Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’

Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’ in Oosterbeek focuses on the Battle of Arnhem, part of Operation Market Garden, September 17-26, 1944, and the ensuing evacuation of Arnhem and South Veluwe. The museum is located in former hotel Hartenstein in Oosterbeek, which was the headquarters of Britain’s First Airborne Division during the Battle of Arnhem. Remains of the battle, some of which was dug up afterward; original film images; lifelike dioramas and an audiovisual presentation give museum visitors an impressive picture of the tragedy that unfolded in those September days in and around Arnhem.
