Jewish History Museum

The Jewish History Museum in Amsterdam, located in four restored synagogues in the heart of the former Jewish neighborhood, is the museum in the Netherlands for Jewish history, religion and culture -- by no means confined to the Second World War. Its exhibitions and activities underscore the similarities between Jewish and other cultures and thus endeavor to eradicate many existing stereotypes. The Jewish Museum administers the Hollandsche Schouwburg, a ten-minute walk from the museum. During the Second World War this former theater was a deportation site for Jews. Today it is a monument commemorating the victims.
