Resistance Museum Amsterdam

Visitors to the Resistance Museum Amsterdam can taste the atmosphere of the war years as they stroll through the Netherlands before, during and immediately after the war. The setting combines replicas of wartime streets and walls covered with color photographs with original objects, images and sounds. The display shows how the atmosphere under occupation became more and more intolerable as oppression and resistance increased in intensity. Helping those in hiding, publishing the illegal press and forging papers became routine activities for a small minority of Dutch people. Their personal stories illustrate the dilemmas and the choices they and others faced. In addition to the permanent collection the Resistance Museum has approximately five temporary exhibitions annually.
