Gelders Archief

The Gelders Archief is the place to be for information about the history of the province of Gelderland and the municipalities of Arnhem, Overbetuwe, Renkum, Rheden and Rozendaal. The archives keep over 25 kilometers of documents (the oldest dating from the 9th century) and a large collection of audiovisual material (photographs, moving pictures, sound recordings, etc.). They are from archives of local, regional and provincial governing bodies, but also of families, estates, churches, companies and societies.
The Gelders Archief strives to be a regional centre of knowledge as far as World War II is concerned, with a focus on the Battle of Arnhem. Several of its collections, accumulated by private researchers, contain important files on soldiers and citizens, army units, locations and events, all relating to the Arnhem region in September 1944 and the aftermath of the battle. The Gelders Archief is situated on Markt 1 at Arnhem.
