Algemeen Dagblad

The AD archives comprise a noteworthy collection of photos which have appeared in their newspapers. One section of the archive consists of photos from regional and national newspapers which have over the years merged with AD. For example, the collection at the editorial offices of the AD Rotterdams Dagblad includes photos originally taken for "de Arbeiderspers" (the Laborers' Press), "het Vrije Volk" (the Free People), and "het Rotterdams Nieuwsblad" (the Rotterdam Daily News). This collection contains photos of acts of war (such as the bombardment of Rotterdam, liquidations, and executions), but also includes images depicting daily life in Rotterdam and the Netherlands generally in the period 1940 to 1945.
