Regional Archives Leiden

The Regional Archives Leiden is a centre for historical research, education and information. Everyone who would like to know something concerning the city Leiden, the neighbour municipalities Zoeterwoude, Teylingen, Rijnsburg, Noordwijk, Hillegom and Leiderdorp or their inhabitants is welcome in our reading room.
We keep a total of about 7,5 kilometers of records concerning municipal authorities, municipal services, institutions and companies, convents and churches, schools and factories, families and associations, notaries and courts. For your research you can consult also books from our historical library, a collection of approx. 76,000 books, newspapers and illustrated magazines, reports, annual reports and newspaper cuttings, as well as general works about history, genealogy, archive administration and art history. Our picture collection exists from photographs, prints, drawings, plans and (post)cards concerning Leiden and the other places in Rijnland. The collection contains approx. 125,000 numbers, which can be seen in the reading room and partly on our website.
